“We used In a Bad Way this morning. It went well and added to the service which was based on the story of the Good Samaritan as we received shoe boxes for operation Christmas child.” David Rudge (Worship Leader), Broken Cross Methodist Church, Macclesfield, UK

Why did two holy men walk on by instead of helping the wounded man? The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) is so familiar that we see the characters in black and white, two bad guys and a good guy, but Jesus was telling his audience that the good guy might be someone you wouldn’t speak to, and if you are not careful the bad guy could be you!

This drama lets us listen to the very plausible motives of the those involved so that we can begin to ask ourselves more honestly: what would we have done? More to the point, what will you do today?

(the story of the good Samaritan appears in Lectionary Year C 10-16 July)
