A baby is born on a silent night in the little town of Bethlehem. But baby Jesus isn’t just Lord of Lords and King of Kings – apparently he is also Baby of the Week! Oh yes, what lucky parents these are! They will become automatic members of the Proudest Parents club and their child has the chance to be Baby of the Year – to be decided by a panel of celebrities! How much excitement can a parent get in one day?
This Christmas drama script would go down well in any setting. It is the perfect antidote to the traditional nativity play, humorously discarding the seriousness for a while and having fun with the TV format before raising a couple of serious questions – how much is a child worth and who is this child?
This sketch is written with the intention that if you have a data projector or large TV screen these can be used to show the television audience’s view of the drama – but that’s just an extra so don’t worry if you lack the technology!
